Parasite de Bong Joon-ho hace historia al llevarse los Óscar a Mejor Película y Director

“Histórica”, esa será la palabra con la que será recordada la entrega de los Premios Óscar 2020, pues, finalmente, una cinta de habla no inglesa se llevó la estatuilla para mejor película; la encargada de lograr la hazaña fue Parasite de Bong Joon-ho.

La cinta surcoreana se llevó los galardones más importantes de la noche, pues también fue acreedora de los Óscar a mejor director, mejor guion original y mejor película internacional. Lo cual muestra una clara apertura a la pluralidad cultural por parte de La Academia.

Desde que ganó la Palma de Oro en el Festival de Cannes, Parasite ha arrasado en la mayoría de las premiaciones en las que ha participado.

La cinta cuenta la historia de dos familias surcoreanas en estratos sociales diametralmente opuestos, sin embargo, el ingenio de la familia menos favorecida hace que sus historias se entrelacen en una trama llena de crítica social, humor negro, drama y suspenso.

Parasite se impuso a 1917, la cinta de Sam Mendes que más sonaba para llevarse la estatuilla a mejor película, además de Joker de Todd Phillips, The Irishman de Martin Scorsese y Once Upon a Time in Hollywood de Quentin Tarantino.

Respecto a los premios por actuación, Joaquin Phoenix consiguió el primer Óscar de su carrera por su magistral interpretación del Joker; lo que lo convierte en el segundo actor que se lleva una estatuilla por interpretar a este personaje, luego que Heath Ledger lo hiciera en 2008 con The Dark Knight.

Por su interpretación en la cinta biográfica Judy, Renée Zellweger se lleva el galardón a Mejor Actriz Protagónica, siendo esta la primera ocasión que gana en esta categoría, aunque ya lo había ganado por mejor actriz de reparto en Cold Mountain de 2003.

Mientras que, por actuaciones de reparto, los premios fueron para Laura Dern por Mariage Story y Brad Pitt por Once Upon a Time in Hollywood; para ambos representa la primera vez que se llevan el Óscar.
